Affordable Backyard BBQ Catering

Have you considered hosting a backyard BBQ buffet party?

As we come into a warmer time of year, we are receiving a lot of enquiries for backyard BBQ catering. The idea of turning your backyard into an event venue for the evening is incredibly appealing. Using your backyard is a simple way to host an unforgettable event. It removes all the hassle of finding and booking a venue. This usually works well for parties with 20 – 120 guests (depending on the size of your backyard).

Popular BBQ buffet menus

Over the past three months, we have catered 63 backyard buffet events. From these events, we have got a great understanding of what foods work well on the BBQ. So, we are going to place our two most popular menus below to help you decide on your next buffet/banquet menu.

Popular Menu #1 – $65 per person
Butterflied and spiced chicken, deboned and sliced to serve. Lamb neck, marinated in confit garlic and rosemary, sliced to serve
Potato salad, boiled eggs, bacon, shallots, spiced aioli
Kent pumpkin, oven-roasted in a sweet honey glaze, fetta, pepitas
Bread and cultured butter, sea salt

Popular Menu #2 – $81 per person
Beef eye fillet, with sweet soy glaze, served with a red wine jus
Lamb Backstrap, cooked medium rare and served on a bed of salsa Verde
Ceaser salad, cos lettuce, parmesan, bacon, boiled eggs, caesar dressing
Roasted broccolini, toasted almonds, on a bed of hummus
Potato salad, boiled eggs, bacon, shallots, spiced aioli
Green leaf salad, cucumber, tomato, lemon vinaigrette
Bread and cultured butter, sea salt

These menus feature two delicious proteins that can be cooked on the BBQ, capturing the smoky flavour we all love. We also recommend opting for cold salads at outdoor events.

Vegetarian and vegan options for your buffet

It’s 2024, the chance of someone at your party being vegetarian is high. So, we have created alternatives for your guests to ensure no one misses out.  A few of our popular vegetarian alternatives are:

• Seared tofu salad, asparagus, corn, agave, mint, almonds
• Caprese salad, sundried cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, balsamic, basil, lemon oil
• Pumpkin ravioli, brown butter sauce, roasted cherry tomato, caramelised onion, mushrooms.

Buffet vs Banquet – What’s the difference?

The difference in these two menu styles is how we serve it.

Buffets are typically served in a grazing table style, featuring a large spread of food presented on a table that no one is seated around. This format is ideal for situations where there are limited tables and chairs or when you want to maintain a casual atmosphere. Guests are expected to grab a plate, serve themselves, and then find a place to sit and enjoy their meal.

Banquet catering is a more elegant option. In this style, food is placed directly down the centre of your dining table, where you and your guests are seated. This setup allows everyone to relax and enjoy the meal while we take care of serving and clearing your plates just as a restaurant would.

Buffet menu #1 or Buffet menu #2?

Both menus have the same volume of food. So, you will not be receiving any less food by opting for buffet menu #1. For this reason, it comes down to budget for your event. The only difference is the variety you will have to choose from. Buffet menu #2 offers an extra 2 sides to enjoy.

Buffet Menu #1 – $65pp Choose 2 main dishes and 2 side dishes + bread and butter

Buffet Menu #2 – $77pp Choose 2 main dishes and 4 side dishes + bread and butter
