Winning Appliances carries some of the world’s finest cooking and laundry brands. Its events need to live up to the same standard.
Product launches. Showroom renovations. Networking events. Whatever the occasion, a Winning event is part exhibition, part theatre.
For a business built around premium kitchens and appliances, average catering would undercut the experience before guests even get to the products.
That’s where Catered by Matt comes in. For almost two years, the team has been part of Winning’s events process, from intimate dinners to events with more than 1,000 guests.
Founder Matt Mirosevich spent two years at Quay and won the prestigious Brett Graham Scholarship before building a client list that now includes Porsche and Ferrari.
Winning went looking for a caterer it could trust. What it found became part of how the business runs its events: exceptional food, an experience guests remember, and enough of it to keep everyone around a little longer.
“He Just Sorted It Out”
Brendan Campbell runs Winning Appliances’ events from start to finish, from the initial brand concept through to the finer details of catering, entertainment and execution.
With many parts in motion, Brendan needs vendors who can own their patch without hand-holding. For catering, that means someone who takes the brief and runs with it.
“I just need someone to organise. I need someone who can handle it.”
Catered by Matt responded fast, and the communication was seamless from the start.
The relationship became permanent after a 40-person sit-down dinner at Winning’s flagship showroom.
“Matt said, ‘Do you want us to organise this for you instead of you doing it?’ And then I handed most of it to him and he just nailed the event completely; he did almost everything for me. That’s when we knew Catered by Matt was the one.”
Before Catered by Matt, Winning leaned on its own culinary team, smaller caterers, and restaurants for smaller events, but it wasn’t built for scale.
Short of a brand walking in with its own restaurant already picked, Catered by Matt now handles every corporate event Winning hosts. Tailored, always, to each brand’s own preferences.
Catering Comes First, Always
Winning’s events can take anywhere from two weeks to a year to plan, usually starting when an appliance brand brings Brendan an initial concept.
Catering enters the conversation almost immediately, early enough to lock in Catered by Matt’s chefs, wait staff, the menu, and any dietary requirements before the event ever hits the calendar.
That matters because Winning’s guests are often clients, too. Underfeed them, and the impression lasts well past the night. It also has to hold up at scale as events typically run 80 to 100 people, sometimes as few as 20, sometimes over 1,000.
The payoff shows up in the guest response to Catered by Matt: consistently strong across quality, quantity, and presentation, with plates adapted to a brand’s specific guidelines where it counts.
Crowd favourites? Arancini, hands down, with salmon dishes as a close second.
One Call, Job Done
Catering doesn’t stop at the menu.
Winning also needs chefs, wait staff and bartenders. Sourcing each separately would mean juggling a handful of suppliers instead of one. Catered by Matt now covers all of it as part of the booking.
Brendan hands over a brief; Catered by Matt takes it from there.
“They select the menu of what they think is going to work best.”
Staffing works the same way. Catered by Matt decides how many chefs and wait staff a night needs, and has recently folded bartenders into the service too.
No more juggling up to six vendors. Just one call, and Catered by Matt handles it all, from planning to staffing and cleanup.
Guests Remember the Catering Staff
Repeat guests recognise Catered by Matt staff.
Winning hosts clients who may attend multiple events, and Brendan has noticed Catered by Matt’s staff remembering returning guests. For people arriving at an event on their own, familiar faces can make the room feel more welcoming.
“When they interact, it’s almost like they’ve now got a relationship and a friendship, which is really, really important to us for people that are coming to our events by themselves.”
It’s a small detail, but it’s the difference between a guest who attends and one who belongs.
No Back-and-Forth
Events rarely go to plan. What separates a good caterer from a great one is their approach to unexpected changes.
Recently, Brendan needed a menu that wasn’t part of Catered by Matt’s usual offering. He called, explained what the event needed, and braced for a back-and-forth.
Instead:
“They just said, leave it with us. We’ll send you something soon.”
The menu that came back was nothing like the standard offering. It was “super upgraded,” in Brendan’s words.
That willingness to accommodate an unusual request reinforced something Winning had already learned about the partnership: they can ask for help, even when the request falls outside the usual process.
“Like They Were Never There”
For Brendan, the catering job isn’t finished when the last canapé is served. The showroom has to look untouched, too.
With Catered by Matt, cleanup starts before the event’s even over. The team clears kitchens, packs away the equipment, and leaves the space spotless while guests are still in the room.
“It’s always before our guests even leave, which is perfect for me.”
Other vendors have left things behind before. Catered by Matt doesn’t.
“It’s like they haven’t even been there.”
The guests are still drinking and talking, yet the kitchen is clean, the equipment is gone, and Matt’s team has already slipped out of the door, unnoticed.
When You Can Just Pick Up the Phone
After almost two years, Winning and Catered by Matt aren’t really operating as client and vendor anymore, but as teams who trust each other to get everything right.
Instead of navigating an office phone, multiple emails, and separate teams, Brendan can call Matt directly and explain what he needs.
“Being able to form a relationship with someone and just pick up the phone as a friend and just say, I need help, can you do this and let’s make it happen is really important.”
That’s what two years together actually buys you: a partnership that no longer needs managing. It just runs.
