At Catered By Matt, we pride ourselves on creating seamless, stress-free catering experiences. Here’s how we go the extra mile to make our buffets unforgettable:
1. We Supply Your Buffet Equipment
Earlier this year, we arrived at an event, excited to cater a delicious buffet grazing table for 70 guests. As we were preparing to plate the food, we looked for large platters to serve the dishes. To our dismay, we realised that there were no attractive plates or bowls available to present our delicious buffet.
We ended up serving the food in whatever we could find. Some bowls were too large, some were too small, some were too deep, and others were not deep enough. While the buffet still tasted amazing, it didn’t look appealing.
The next day, we went shopping and purchased over 30 buffet dishes. Now, for every buffet event we cater, we bring all our own equipment. This has several advantages:
- The client can relax, knowing that we will bring everything needed for the event. All you must provide is a table to set it all on.
- We can select the dishes that work best with each food item, ensuring that every single dish looks perfect.
- The buffet will appear as a cohesive masterpiece, rather than a collection of mismatched bowls and platters that don’t quite fit together.
So what do we supply?
Large platters
Salad bowls
Side dishes
Serving utensils
A table clothe
Elevated cake stands to create height
Salt and pepper shakers
Napkins
Décor for between the dishes
2. Heat Lamps
Another problem that we ran into whilst serving buffets was trying to keep the food warm. We would serve it all warm and delicious, but without any heat, it would start cooling down almost immediately.
To solve this problem, we ordered some gorgeous rose gold heat lamps. The heat lamps are tall and flexible, so we can have them reaching right over the buffet. Now, every time we set up a buffet grazing table, we can keep everything warm for much longer. We also use these for our degustation menus. This allows us a longer window of time for plating and styling food. This means we can put an extra minute or two of care into making sure your food is Instagram-worthy without worrying about the protein cooling down.
3. Takeaway containers for leftovers
Once your party is over and everyone has left, the last thing you want to do is open your fridge and discover a pile of plastic-wrapped, half-eaten plates of food. To make your life easier, we provide takeaway containers for your leftovers. This way, we can pack your food away in one of two ways:
- We can pack a container for each dish, e.g. one container has lamb, another has pumpkin etc
- Or, we can pack little ‘to go’ meals that have a bit of each dish in them. This way you can offer them to your guests as ready-made meals to take home for lunch the following day.
