Private Dining Experiences

So, you’re planning your next private dinner party. But where do you start? The menu, the caterer, the dietary restrictions – there’s a lot to consider. Before booking your next home catering event, read through this blog and let us answer some of your questions.

  1. The Private Chef

“Who should we choose to cater for us? There are so many options”.

If you ask us, we are going to tell you to book with Catered by Matt, but realistically anyone with the following points ticked will most likely do a great job.

  • The Chef has experience in some level of fine dining. Ideally a few years.
  • The menus seem well thought out. Fish options, protein options, hot + cold options etc.
  • The menus are reasonably priced. Typically hiring a caterer will cost a little more than going to a nice restaurant. But if the caterer’s menus are 3x the price of a restaurant, maybe have another look around.
  • They offer waitstaff as an addition. Chefs can cook, serve and clear for  8-10 guests. After that, you will likely require a waitstaff to ensure a smooth service.
    2. Why would we recommend our degustation private dining services over another company?
  • Our team is not the largest catering team in Sydney (far from it), however, we are most likely one of the most experienced as far as skill and experience is concerned.
  • We genuinely try harder than other companies. Why? We believe that provided we get into your kitchen, we will put on a show and create a delicious and memorable experience. This is our goal because to us, every meal matters. Because of this, we are more accommodating and can be flexible with your desired degustation menus.
    3. How long does a degustation dinner last?

Typically, our 3-course dinner experience will last about 1.5 – 2 hours. This is dependent upon the pace of service you desire. If you wish to go more towards the 5-6 course experience, service will take around 2.5 – 3 hours.

    4. When will my private chef arrive?

The chef will arrive 60-90 minutes before the first course is served. E.g. If you are looking for a 6:00 pm dinner, our private chef will arrive between 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm.

   5. What are our most highly requested meals?

To say all of our meals are delicious, may well be an understatement. However, we have a few that stand out from the rest.

For entrees –

Hervey Bay scallops, roasted tomato, wakame, café de Paris butter

Crisp pork belly, cauliflower remoulade, garlic, shaved macadamia, mustard

For Mains –

Slow-cooked beef short rib, grilled asparagus, creamed potato, red wine jus

Potato gnocchi, blue swimmer crab, mushroom and truffle puree, verde, fried leek, sorrel

For dessert –

Belgium chocolate mousse, orange marmalade, Chantilly cream, chocolate crumb

Lemon myrtle white chocolate curd, roast pineapple, macadamia crumb, mint

These dishes are hands down our most popular dishes.
